Educate

MensWork offers educational programs throughout the community. Our educational programs focus on defining sexual and domestic violence as “men’s issues,” and then examine ways for men to be involved.  Although our focus is on educating men, we do provide mixed gender presentations as well.

We provide presentations that are designed to raise awareness/increase knowledge, change attitudes, or change behavior/enhance skills.  We focus on attitude and behavior change presentations, but also offer awareness raising type presentations. Below is a sample of some of our educational workshops:

  • Gender respect and Healthy dating (for adolescents)
  • Bullying prevention (for middle school)
  • Talking with your sons about healthy dating and gender respect
  • Pornography as a form of sexual violence
  • Elements of Consent

We also provide professional training programs as well.  Some of our professional training topics include:

  • Dating violence
  • Talking with Male Youth about Gender Respect and Healthy Dating
  • Reaching men:  effectively educating men about sexual and domestic violence
  • Supporting male significant others of women or men who have been victimized
  • Supporting with men who have been victimized
  • Working with Gay and Bisexual Males who have been victimized
  • An overview of the Prevention Perspective
  • Community Collaboration to Prevent all forms of sexual and domestic violence

We also provide long-term educational programs with local partners (current partners include DeSales High School, Youthbuild, and the Presbyterian Community Center among others).  These programs are designed specifically for our partner agencies, to meet the needs of the youth, staff and parents.
